Our members elected their 2021-2022 Management Committee on Friday at the 2021 Annual General Meeting.
For the first time in our 31 year history, and in an
industry that is typically male-dominated, we are honoured to have a
female majority Executive leading our Association. All four members of
the Executive bring with them a unique set of strengths that when put
together create a well-rounded and cohesive team.
State President - Tamica Lewis
After serving for the last two years
as Vice President, we’re thrilled to welcome Tamica Lewis to the role
of State President. Tamica has a long history with BDAQ and has held
various roles at both branch and State level previously, as well as
being the NABD National President for two years. Tamica's extensive
experience in leadership and her passion for the profession of Building
Design will enhance our organisational evolution as Building Design
Queensland embraces the challenges presented by the radically changing
landscape witnessed over the last few years.
State Vice President - Henriette Werner
We’re excited to welcome Henriette
Werner as our new State Vice President. Henriette has successfully led
our Events Sub-Committee for the last few years and served on the
Sunshine Coast branch committee as a general committee member, branch
Secretary, and most recently as our Sunshine Coast Delegate. As a
hard-working, enthusiastic member of the BDAQ family, we know she’ll
bring a fresh perspective to the Executive team.
State Treasuer - Evan Andrews
Evan Andrews has been re-elected as
our State Treasurer, making this his fifth term in the position. He’ll
bring his analytical mind to the role again this year and plans on
working closely with our new Executive Manager Rob Bebrouth in budgeting
and forecasting. Evan’s history on the Executive and all-rounder
approach to getting involved in the Association make him a valuable part
of the team.
State Secretary - Margaret Ewings
Our new State Secretary is Margaret
Ewings. Margaret stepped up to the role of Brisbane branch President in
2019 and has headed up our practice notes taskforce within the Technical
Sub-Committee for the past 18 months. Her eye for detail and practical
nature means she’ll not only be a terrific Secretary, but a valuable
member of the Executive team.
We’d
like to take the opportunity to thank Owen Kleidon and Neil Jones for
their service on the Executive team in the roles of President and
Secretary respectively. Over the course of the last three years, the
dedication and passion they brought to their respective roles should
recognised and applauded.
Owen will be taking on the newly created role of
Immediate Past President to assist the new Executive in this transition
and become involved in areas of interest to him within the Association.
2021-2022 Branch Delegates
Branch AGMs have been held in every branch over
the last three months, with several new Delegates elected by their local
members: Robert Patterson on the Sunshine Coast, Tyson Lochwood in Wide
Bay and Nathan Huppatz in Townsville. A thank you must be extended to
those who held the roles previously: Henriette Werner, Michael Russell
and Andrea Weightman respectively.\
All Delegates were ratified during Friday's AGM
and are now officially members of the 2021-2022 Management Committee:
- Far North Queensland: Lisa Mackee
- Townsville: Nathan Huppatz
- Mackay: Richard Pace
- Central Queensland: Kim Laundry
- Wide Bay: Tyson Lochwood
- Sunshine Coast: Robert Patterson
- Brisbane: Patrick Quain
- South West: Craig van Heerden
- Gold Coast: Tony Hague
We’re excited to see where this fresh committee
takes us and trust our members will give the Management Committee their
full support over the next twelve months as they lead us into this new
era.
